Jackson
& Felton Mills Bridges Bike Loop |
| This is the most challenging and most
rewarding ride. There are two very different bridges. Jackson Mills
Bridge is the prettiest bridge in Bedford, while the Fenton Mills Bridge
is the most original; retaining even the hand painted advertising inside
it. It's on private property, however the owner is friendly and willing
to tell you about its history. There are several steep hills but much
of the ride is on rolling countryside. On a clear day the views are
spectacular. Most of the roads are very lightly trafficked. The ride
starts and ends at Grouseland where you can park, picnic, swim or shower
for free. Grouseland Tours is 30 miles from Bedford, take Rt. 30 to Everett, take business Rt. 30 to the second light and follow Rt. 26 south to Clearville, continue straight to Big Creek Road and follow the signs to Grouseland. |
